Feed Pack 1

4 December 2007

Recently I’ve had a couple of people who I’ve evangelised the whole using-a-RSS-reader thing at ask me to put together a list of some recommended feeds. I thought that sounded like a pretty good idea, and I also thought that would be a nice easy blog post…

Now, I don’t actually group my RSS feeds in any way – one big list being much quicker to navigate around – but I thought for the purposes of this exercise grouping them might be a bit more useful as the topics covered are fairly far and wide. Oh, be warned – I’m probably going to be over comprehensive, so I would probably filter these down a little. Well I wouldn’t, obviously, as I read them all, but you probably would. Or something. Anyway, without further ado:

Mac

Download the Mac feeds as an OPML file (right click and hit “Save to disk” and then import into your feed reader).

AppleInsider
One of the original mac rumour sites, and still one of the best.

Apple Hot News
Of course, if you really want Mac news you need to go direct to the source.

Cabel.name
Cabel works for the rather lovely Panic and while he doesn’t always write about Mac stuff he always writes about something interesting. And food.

Call Me Fishmeal
Wil Shipley, of Delicious Monster and ex-OmniGroup fame, writes a lovely little blog.

Crazy Apple Rumors
All made up Apple rumours, all the time.

Daring Fireball
If you only subscribe to one site on this list, make it this one. Some of the best writing on the web.

Gus Mueller
Gus writes Mac software, as is right at the heart of the indie Mac developer scene.

Infinite Loop
One of the better Mac news sources, for ArsTechnica who are really quite good anyway.

MacNN
Possibly one of the longest running Mac news sites, and still going strong.

MacOSXHints
Massively useful resource for day to day Mac usage tips. A good place to search if you want to do something, but don’t know how.

MacRumors
The best Mac rumours site, as they aggregate and evaluate the rumours that everyone else post.

MacUpdate
The best resource for mac software updates.

The Omni Mouth
The OmniGroup blog, which is good not just for general Omni updates but also for a peak behind the curtain of one of the most successful indie Mac developers.

Red Sweater Blog
More indie Mac developer goodness.

Think Secret
Well up there alongside MacRumors as one of the best Mac rumour sites – a good source for original rumours.

Therocacao
Yet more indie Mac developer blogging, with a really nice site design to boot. Slightly more coding biased then some of the other ones.

ThinkMac Blog
I get the feeling by this point in this list you still want more indie Mac developer blogs, so here’s another one – and UK based no less!

The Unofficial Apple Weblog
Rapidly becoming one of the best Mac news sites – they’re really good if you want to stay up-to-date.

Waffle
Slightly grumpy indie Mac developer ramblings. I like grumpy.

Stay tuned tomorrow for the rest of the list…
