Feed Pack 3

10 December 2007

Whoops… tomorrow has turned into a 4 day gap. Sorry about that – as you’ll find out tomorrow I’ve been a little busy. Anyway, back to the final instalment of feeds for you…

Music

Download the Music feeds as an OPML file (right click and hit “Save to disk” and then import into your feed reader).

4AD Journal
I’ve tried to avoid so far sites have had something to do with, but this one is a great look behind the scenes of the infamous label (home of Beirut, TV On The Radio, The Pixies et al).

The Daily Growl
Not daily, but still a very good uk focused indie music blog.

Daytrotter
One of the more unique music sites on the net, as they get illustrations done for all their stories. Good source for live session mp3s as well.

Drowned In Sound
Other then NME, the biggest UK music site (and quite justly, as they ain’t bad).

Gorilla vs Bear
One of the four big US indie blogs; a must read.

Guardian Music Blog
I find it very impressive how well the Guardian get both music and blogging – their blog is very, very good and features a very high calibre of guest bloggers.

Headphonesex
Read if you want to be really on the cutting edge.

Hypebot
Probably the best music industry site (that isn’t a pay site… silly MusicWeek).

I guess I’m Floating
Another good music blog.

Idolator
Number two of the big four; snarky but good.

Lefsetz Letter
Boy, Bob is a grumpy chap, but he speaks the truth really quite regularly.

The Line Of Best Fit
More indie-blogy goodness.

Listening Post
Good more industry facing news from Wired.

Music For Robots
Good to listen to – a regular taste of new music.

Music Interfaces
Exploring the way we listen to music in the digital age.

My Old Kentucky Blog
A blog. About indie music. You know the drill. (Very good though).

NME
I’m not a fan of the print version (although I do read it), but the web version – despite a sprawling mess of a site – has the best music news on the web. Sad but true.

No Rock and Roll Fun
A slightly lighter take on UK music news.

Pitchfork
The daddy. The king of the hill. Manages to be the top US music blog, even though it’s not really a blog. It’s that good. Or influential (same difference).

BBC Radio Labs
The BBC is doing lots of interesting R&D style work, and they’re charting their progress here.

Stereogum
Probably my favourite of the big four, as they get the news/blog mix just right.

This Is Fake DIY
Good UK music news, although if you’re subscribed to DiS and NME you’re probably already covered.

Ok, I think that’s quite enough of that. A proper post tomorrow – I promise!
